Tourettes: I swear I can sing, Able to UK review

It may be the X Factor final this Sunday but one person who probably wont make it past the auditions round next year is 25-year-old Ruth Ojadi.

Don’t get us wrong, Ruth can sing. She actually had plans to study music at university, but there is one thing which is making her wishful musical career a little more difficult; Ruth has torette syndrome.

Her disability crushed her dreams when, after being diagnosed with the condition, Ruth was forced to drop out of university as her twitches led to outbursts of swearing and offensive words being blurted out of her mouth.

Ruth has two choices, become the next Johnny Rotten or spend three years trying to conquer her disability before making another stab at the musical big time. >Luckily she opted for the former option!

Next Monday’s documentary on BBC3 follows Ruth’s courageous steps towards her new clean-mouth life, but she is still finding things very difficult as a trip to the local supermarket clearly shows - It seems just as entertaining as watching a talent contest on TV this weekend!

Tourettes: I Swear I Can Sing is on BBC 3, Monday 12 December at 9pm.
