Leopard Films sells An Englishman in New York to US network
The MTV Networks-owned gay and lesbian channel Logo will give the drama its first US airing after its premiere on ITV1, which has yet to be scheduled.
An Englishman in New York picks up from where the 1974 Bafta award-winning drama, The Naked Civil Servant, left off. It tells the story of flamboyant gay icon Quentin Crisp after his journey from his native England to New York.
John Hurt has reprised his role as Crisp and is joined by Sex and the City actress Cynthia Nixon, who plays performance artist Penny Arcade.
The Logo sale comes soon after An Englishman in New York won a major award at the Berlin Film Festival, where Hurt picked up the Teddy Award for Best Acting Performance.
Sarah Diggins, head of sales at Leopard International, brokered the deal.
